About Us

Our surgery center strives to reduce risks of infection.

Our ambulatory surgery center provides the safest and healthiest environment for your surgical procedure.

We make sure all patients are free of sickness, infection and allergic reactions before they have their surgery done at Grants Pass Surgical Center. Additionally we discuss any issues that could affect your surgery, such as diabetes or obesity.

Our physicians, nurses and staff follow the latest safety rules for preventing surgical site infections (SSIs), a rare infection that can develop after surgery around the area where the incision was made. These rules include:

  • Cleaning hands and arms up to the elbows with an antiseptic agent just before surgery
  • Cleaning hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub before and after seeing patients
  • Removing hair from the surgery site, when required, using electric clippers—not a razor
  • Wearing special hair covers, masks, gowns and gloves during surgery
  • Giving you antibiotics within one hour of the start of your surgery
  • Cleaning your skin at the surgical site with a germ-killing soap

If you have any concerns about whether these protocols have been followed, you have the right to speak up and discuss them. After surgery, make sure that family and friends clean their hands before visiting or touching you. Call your doctor immediately if you see symptoms of an infection, such as redness and pain around the surgical area, drainage of cloudy fluid from the incision or fever.

Joint Commission accreditation means improved health care.

Most importantly, our center has been accredited by the Joint Commission, the main certifying agency for healthcare organizations in the United States, since March 1999.  Our Medicare certification has been maintained since 1998.

What does our accreditation mean for you? The Joint Commission challenges healthcare organizations “to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value.” The agency evaluates every facet of our surgery center. They review the steps we take to protect your safety and the quality of the care we provide to you as a patient. In fact, to gain the accreditation we have to meet or exceed over 150 of these standards.

We work hard to maintain our Joint Commission accreditation so we can give you one more reason to feel confident in the quality of care you will receive when you are here.

Post-surgery care reduces your risk of future infection.

After your surgery, we will check in with you by phone to discuss any concerns you may have about your recovery. Additionally, we schedule routine follow-ups in the physicians’ offices within 14 days of your surgery to evaluate your recovery and make sure there are no signs of infection at your surgery site. Studies indicate that the majority of infections occur within that period.
